As a recipient of the Sally's Angels and Lure Fine Real Estate's Fall Grant via Tri-Valley Non-Profit Alliance, I will be partnering with Tri- Valley Haven and showcasing their organization in videos, pictures and blogs in an effort to raise awareness to the many incredible services they provide in support of the community, their needs and how we all can help.
My first outing placed us on Main Street in Pleasanton, where guests and volunteers walked in a silent vigil in support of Domestic Violence Awareness month. It was a moving tribute to the victims but also at the end of the walk the newly trained domestic violence volunteers who completed the required 65 hours of training necessary to volunteer were honored. Their training is approved by the Office of Emergency Services and focuses on crisis counseling, domestic violence and sexual assault information, suicide intervention skills, and much more. The new volunteers names were announced and they were awarded with certificates.
Tri-Valley Haven offers shelters to women and children of Domestic Violence. The shelter hold up to 30 beds, and provides food, clothing, and counseling free of charge. In addition there is a 24 Hour Crisis Line which is manned 365 days a year to provide callers with intervention, referrals and other services. Most people know someone who has been physically or emotionally abused, or it may be within your own family. There is help - call (800) 884-8119 or (925)-449-5842.
I intend on starting the 65 hours of training in January so I too may be a volunteer for Tri-Valley Haven. I will be blogging about my training and my experience. Please follow me as I learn more about this non-profit, share their events and my experiences in hopes of raising awareness and additional support for these important services in our community.
